Livery notes
Slinn(2), describes the B&M livery as a medium to light grey, with iron strapping picked out in black on both body and solebar. Initially the B&M lettering was in white with lighter shading to the right and below, possibly red. From 1903 the letters were 6” high and from 1909 they were described as being 18” high, though larger sizes have been mentioned.
The “B” and “M” would have been located either side of the doors on the outer panels with the “&” likely to have been on the inner Panel. On cattle wagons the lettering was noted on the vehicle ends due to lack of space but it is unlikely this would have been the case for these vehicles. Any further information is welcome.
